HEW’S SUNDAY CURE | TIME FOR A BLOODY MARY

Had a long weekend? Still got some of last night’s red in the house? These reasons and more are why you should be drinking a Bloody Mary! This is no ordinary Bloody Mary, it’s spicier and packs a bit more of a punch. The perfect cure for bleary eyes on a foggy Sunday afternoon… in fact, it’s pretty great any time of day. 

 

Ingredients: 

  • Tomatoes juice 
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Horseradish 
  • Celery salt  
  • Black pepper  
  • Olives 
  • Seeded mustard  
  • Tabasco sauce  
  • Dash of red wine 
  • Lemon juice 

 Garnish: 

  • Celery 
  • Olives

You’ll need a cocktail shaker as well to whip this Bloody Mary up.

Directions: 

Fill a large cocktail shaker with ice. 

Crack black pepper over the ice, then add a dollop each of Worcestershire sauce, horseradish and seeded mustard. About a tablespoon to a tablespoon and a half should be good!

Add 30mls of vodka, and 30mls of red wine, and a dash of Tabasco. 

Now top the drink with tomato juice (you can also use clamato - a mix of tomato juice and clam broth)

Shake!!!

Rim a tall glass with your celery salt and pour the Bloody Mary mixture into it. 

Squeeze the fresh lemon over the top, give another turn of black pepper, and garnish with a stalk of celery and an olive… or three. Best served chilled, and with good company.
